Official Handbook of the Jelly Halo Universe:

Ant, Solomon

Deadly Sin: Vanity

Familiar: Peacock

Powers: He was given the power by his green and purple kimono to form colors into solid objects.  Most often this occurs at the end of his sleeve hole in the form of tendrils, long blades, or peacocks which explode on contact.  He can also form, or “sculpt,” solid objects, though it seems like the peacocks are the only creations he can endow with mobility.

Brief History:  Solomon Ant was an unsuccessful glass sculptor who was very meticulous in his creation of art objects.  When he lost a contest in which he had created a true-to-life train in meticulous detail and the winner created a tree on instinct, Solomon was close to suicide.  Then he discovered the mysterious green and purple kimono which made him young and beautiful and allowed him to become the world’s greatest artist.  The kimono is slowly sucking away his own color so that, while the kimono remains bright, his own face is increasingly covered in shadow.

Relic: The Holy Stauncher, the sanitary napkin of the woman Jesus healed who had a lifelong issue of blood.

Echo, Karl

Deadly Sin: Sloth

Familiar: Sloth (Megatherium)

Powers: He can slow down so that he is outside of time, and he can step back into time so that to outside observers it seems like he is teleporting short distances.  Also, as a giant sloth, he has enhanced strength; bone nodules under his skin that create a very tough, chain-mail-like exterior; and long, hooked claws.

Brief History: When he was a child, Karl Echo saw what he described as a "jelly halo event" which included the revelation that megatheria were not extinct, simply outside of time.  He grew up, became a scholar in "Historical Jesus" studies attempting to prove Jesus had certain unusual biological features, married Sophie Casterwell, and had twin daughters.  He met Cardinal Pandemonium Odalon who, upon hearing about the "jelly halo event" introduced him to Pater Non, a man capable of bonding him with any animal of his choosing.  His choice of the sloth inspired Pater Non to create the Deadly Sins whose mission was to find the Seven Unusual Relics which would grant the bearer power, but when combined would grant those present unlimited power.

Relic: The Golden Eight, the function of which is mysterious though some speculate it was a learning tool.

Fordham, Ford

Deadly Sin: Wrath

Familiar: Beluga Whale

Powers: Ford can release a devastating sonic scream which carries a significant concussive force.  As a were-beluga, he has naturally enhanced strength and endurance.  With the robot body given to him by a mysterious benefactor, Ford’s strength and durability have been enhanced exponentially.

Brief History: The young Maddox “Ford” Fordham, frustrated at the victory of Macho Man Randy Savage at the 1988 King of the Ring tournament and unable to do anything to change it, vowed to become powerful enough to change what he disliked. He wrestled briefly as Dweller in Darkness in a faction with Tommy Dreamer and Sandman in the early days of ECW, but he was fired because he acted like an entitled douche bag.  He spent many years working at a pharmacy counter claiming his soul was bonded with various demons such as Nyarlathotep, Rahab, and The Leviathan.  He called himself “Wrathgod” on his name tag.  This caught the attention of Pater Non who recruited him into the Deadly Sins.  Ford chose the beluga whale because of its relationship with The Leviathan.  In his transformed state, Ford’s arms and legs remained human sized which caused him to be terribly clumsy.  Ford was soon given a robotic body by a mysterious benefactor, making him the strongest member of the Deadly Sins.

Relic: The Holy Milkyway, a half eaten candy bar wrapped in a silk purse made from the ear of a saw killed by one of the Legion demons.

Numbertwo, Thurgood

Deadly Sin: Avarice

Familiar: Porcupine

Powers: Like all porcupines, Thurgood is a shapeshifter and has mastery over the size and shape of his body, though certain disguises take training and concentration.  Thurgood is especially advanced in his training, so his powers exceed those of an average porcupine.  He also has strength far exceeding that of an average porcupine, well into super-porcupine level.

Brief History: Thurgood Numbertwo belongs to an evolutionary outcropping of rodentia not known to the public at large.  As a porcupine, he was expected to train as a child to take on the shape of a chosen human in order to infiltrate human society and control it for the good of the porcupine belief system, i.e. the centrality of the continuation of life.  Thurgood chose the most difficult of human forms – “The Thurgood” – and thus was given the Sodomite as a weapon and high status within porcupine society.  From the lofty position of “Thurgood Numbertwo,” he puts forward his iconoclastic philosophy that power, more so than life, should be central value for all porcupines and porcupines, as the most highly evolved species, should take charge.  He was recruited by Pater Non into the Deadly Sins because he already possessed one of the Seven Unusual Relics, the Sodomite.

Relic: The Sodomite, also known as the Holy Baby Rattle, the baby rattle used by Jesus which was buried and grew into a grove full of lollipop shaped wooden objects which float when they reach a certain maturity.  The wielder of the Sodomite can change the weight and density of the ball portion so that it allows him or her to float or to crush objects.  The stem of the Sodomite also has key teeth which, when tapped on any door, allow the wielder complete access.

Odalon, Cardinal Pandemonium

Deadly Sin: Lust

Familiar: Panda

Powers: Pandemonium is the physically strongest of the Deadly Sins (though, with his robot body, Ford is technically stronger).  He is nearly invulnerable.  He is impervious to bullets, immune to fire and other energy attacks, and is not harmed by physical attacks or falls from great heights.  He can remain under water indefinitely without drowning.

Brief History: Pandemonium was rejected by her first love who said she would be eternally in love with another boy who had recently died.  Pandemonium became obsessed with the space between life and death and the unattainable mysteries therein.  Like Karl, he was married and had two daughters.  He later went into the priesthood and became a cardinal.  What became of his wife and daughters is unknown though Pandemonium has indicated that he is directly responsible for some tragic occurrence that separated him from his family.  He chose a panda as his familiar because that was one of his daughters’ favorite toys.  He has indicated that, though he has been in the priesthood many years, he does not and never has believed in the church’s God.  Instead, he, in a sense, worships mystery itself.

Relic: The Sheriff Star, a metal star pin made to commemorate the “Star of David” event and sold to tourists in Bethlehem, later worn by Potius Pilate in an ironic suggestion that he was an Old West sheriff.

Peachy the Peachbush

Deadly Sin: Gluttony

Familiar: The Peach Bush

Powers: Unknown.  Peachy is somehow able to completely destroy an enemy but must be out of sight of anyone else while doing it.  He has a reputation for being the most devastating and frightening of all the Deadly Sins, but no one knows what exactly the process of destruction is.  Peachy’s powers work best in tandem; one member of the Deadly Sins stuns opponents then Peachy drags them off out of sight.  Nothing is left of a victim but a scorch mark.  Peachy’s powers can be counteracted ensuring that you are witnessed at all times.

Brief History: Peachy is actually one of the Seven Unusual Relics.  He is the withered fig tree cursed by Jesus to whither and bear no fruit.  The actual taxonomy of Peachy is in question since he was called a fig tree in the bible and a peach bush in the U.S. but his body is a tangle of unidentifiable vines and his head appears more like a heart than any specific fruit.  Peachy existed as concentrated bitterness for thousands of years, falling into the society of secret plants becoming one of its most adamant enforcers.

Relic: The withered fig tree.

Richie, Lionel

Deadly Sin: Pride

Familiar: The Wheel (The Buddhist Bhavacakra)

Powers: He can create a gate in the center of the wheel to any location, real or imagined.  In battle, he can suck opponents into the gate or drop objects (a car, for example) onto opponents.  He once accidentally traveled through time, but this is not a power he has readily available.

Brief History: Lionel Richie, after a successful career as lead singer of the Commodores, was well on the way to a successful solo career when he recorded the song “Dancing on the Ceiling” which released forces beyond his intention or understanding.  Within the narrative of the music video “Hello,” Lionel was visited by a god-like entity he called “The Lightning Bolt” which informed him that the power released by “Dancing on the Ceiling” had the potential to counteract gravity and destroy the universe.  To contain these forces, the Lightning Bolt bonded Lionel with the Bhavacakra and replaced him with a doppelganger.  For many years, he wandered the country, no one believing he was Lionel Richie, until he met Pater Non who recruited him into the Deadly Sins.

Relic: The Holy Bowling Ball, a black hole that manifested on earth when Jesus was born which Jesus, as a newborn, caused to calcify into bowling ball form.
